Bexar County news, Texas news.

A piece of luggage containing human remains was found at a rural Texas ranch on Thursday, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies made the gruesome discovery after receiving a call from people feeding animals on the ranch about a suspicious suitcase.

Investigators described the luggage as a duffel bag; human remains were discovered inside it.

According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, the investigation is still in its early stages with many questions regarding the discovery remaining unanswered.

    Salazar said.

“We won't be able to determine the cause of death, manner of death, or the identity of the victim for some time.”

Salazar added that detectives are processing the scene. The owners of the property are out of town and cooperating with the investigation.

“At this point, it's just too early to tell if the person was killed here or if they were brought here in that piece of luggage and then dumped here,” the sheriff said.
