Shooting at Texas shopping center leaves 2 dead, 5 wounded

An overnight shooting at an Amarillo shopping center has left two people dead and five others with gunshot wounds, police said.

Officers responded to an events center at the mall at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday over reports of a shooting and multiple victims, the Amarillo Police Department said.

Once at the scene, officers learned that gunfire erupted during a party following a fight between some of the attendees.

    The second fatality occurred at a hospital. Five victims suffered serious but non-life-threatening wounds.

    Authorities identified the slain victims as 32-year-old Semagea Smith and 28-year-old Dequincton Taylor.
