An Indiana woman was arrested this week and charged with neglect and dealing with a controlled substance after she allegedly offered three children prescribed pills and taught them how to snort drugs using a ramen noodle cup lid.
The incident occurred Wednesday at the home of 24-year-old Deana Nicole Byrd; the children's mother arrived to pick up her kids, aged 8, 9, and 15, to find all three unconscious.
Byrd, who was sitting on the front porch of the home, was visibly impaired. After her arrest, she denied giving anything to the children claiming that they may have gotten into the pills without her knowledge.
“[The 15-year-old girl] said Byrd showed her how to break open the orange pill capsules and make lines with them to snort,” the affidavit read. “The 15-year-old said Byrd showed them how to snort pills using a rolled-up Ramen noodle cup lid.”
“She said she and her brothers took about 3-4 of each of the three different pills Byrd had given them.”
The children began falling over and puking after ingesting the pills. Authorities said that bottles of Adderall, Klonopin, and Lyrica were discovered at the scene.
