St. Louis news, Missouri news.

Health officials in St. Louis County are urging anyone who purchased oysters from a local food store to dispose of them after the death of a customer Thursday.

The 54-year-old man reportedly bought the bacteria-infected oysters from The Fruit Stand & Seafood at 14433 Manchester Road in Manchester last week.

He became infected by the bacteria Vibrio vulnificus after eating the oysters without cooking them, the St. Louis County Department of Public Health said in the statement.
