Tallahassee news, Florida news.

A Tallahassee woman was gunned down by police late Thursday night after she opened fire at officers arresting a drug trafficking suspect at a local park.

The incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. at Tom Brown Park where officers located a fugitive who fled during an earlier traffic stop.

The officers found the suspect with two individuals, a man, and a woman, and while they questioned the two men, the woman walked away to return shortly later armed with a rifle.

“As officers began releasing the second man from custody, the woman re-emerged and began firing a rifle at officers,” TPD Deputy Chief Jason Laursen said.
