A North Carolina girl was charged with assault after she attacked a firefighter with a knife and tried to assault other first responders on Tuesday.
The 13-year-old assailant was arrested by Gastonia Police officers who responded to a residence on Pikes Peak Drive where she had allegedly stabbed a firefighter.

Police said that the combative juvenile also attempted to attack another firefighter and officers who tried to detain her.
The injured firefighter was treated for minor cuts and no other casualties were reported.
Gastonia authorities have since charged the teen with aggravated assault and assault. She is currently being held in a secure detention facility.
