Police in San Antonio are trying to determine a motive after a father killed his 7-year-old daughter, his wife, and himself in a tragic double-murder suicide.
The bodies of Jeremy and Shannon Martinez and their daughter Bailey were discovered inside their apartment along with a gun early Monday morning.
The grisly discovery was made after a concerned relative requested a welfare check on the family that went unheard of since Saturday.
According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office, Jeremy Martinez carried out the massacre of his family, shooting them to death before taking his own life.
“Divorce and breakups often have dangerous and deadly outcomes,” Police said in the aftermath of the incident.
“Was at the scene this morning of a double murder/suicide...heartbreaking talking with the father/grandfather of the victims.”
Authorities did not confirm a motive for the incident but SAPD Chief Bill McManus asked families to reach out for help if they are struggling with domestic violence.
