Washington DC news, Washington news.

Senators and lawmakers sent Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel their prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery after he fell at a Washington D.C. Restaurant and was hospitalized late Wednesday.

The 81-year-old was reportedly hosting a dinner for the Senate Leadership Fund at Waldorf Astoria hotel when he tripped and fell, his office said in a statement.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer revealed on Thursday that he spoke to McConnell but did not give an update on his current condition.

“My thoughts this morning are with my good friend Leader Mitch McConnell, who's recovering in the hospital after an accident last night.”

“This morning I offer a prayer for strength and healing for the leader and his family.”

Senators John Cornyn and Tim Scott were among those who posted well wishes for the upper chamber's leader.

“This morning, I join my fellow Kentuckians in wishing Leader McConnell a speedy recovery,” said Kentucky Gov. Andy Barr.
