Memphis dad charged after toddler son nearly killed in pit-bull attack

A Memphis man is facing charges after a pack of pit bulls nearly killed his 3-year-old son late Monday.

Kendale Taylor was charged with child endangerment and had been issued a citation for failure to maintain the dogs after the attack that occurred at around 5 p.m. and left his son Lorenzo with severe injuries.

Authorities said that the boy was brought to a hospital in critical condition and is still clinging to life after doctors were able to stabilize his vital signs.

  • Lorenzo's father said that the pack of dogs that attacked his son were not pit bulls but boxer-Belgian Malinois mixes adding that the incident was “an accident.”

    Neighbors said that Taylor's dogs had been a threat to locals since he moved in several months ago.

    “I done voiced my concerns, a lot of people have. But they wouldn't listen. They got little dogs running all around, pits. Breeded with pits.”

    Prior to the incident involving his son, Taylor had 16 dog-related citations.
