A teenage boy is dead and another is behind bars after an altercation went bloody inside an art classroom at a Santa Rosa high school Wednesday morning, police said.
The incident began at around 11 a.m. at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa when two 16-year-old boys approached a 15-year-old student and a fight ensued.
The teacher and three aides were able to break up the altercation but the younger boy produced a knife and attacked the older boys, stabbing the victim three times in the upper body.
Police said that the other boy was stabbed once in the hand. Both went to the nurse's office for treatment before being rushed to a hospital where
one succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect fled the scene and hid in a creek behind St. Eugene's Cathedral where an eyewitness spotted him. He was arrested without incident.
“These three students knew each other and had some previous physical altercations,” Santa Rosa Chief John Cregan said.
