Kindergarten brings knife to school to stab teacher, classmates after watching 'Chucky'

A kindergarten student is accused of bringing a knife to school and threatening to stab their teacher and classmates, Sumter County authorities said.

The incident occurred Thursday at the Cherryvale Elementary School when the 7-year-old child told their teacher that they planned to stab them in the heart.

“The student brought the knife from home in their book bag and threatened their classmates and teacher,” police said on Facebook.

    “When asked why he brought the knife to school, the student stated that he wanted to kill the teachers and then the students by stabbing them in the heart.”

    “The seven-year-old said he knew how to do this from watching the movie 'Chucky',” the post added.

    The Sumter County Sheriff's Office said that the knife had been seized as evidence as the investigation into the incident continues.
