DeLand news, Florida news.

A Florida boy is dead after he shot himself while playing with an unsecured handgun left on a nightstand, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

The 3-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the face inside a DeLand home Wednesday evening while he and a 7-year-old were being watched by their 16-year-old sister.

Police said that the children's parents were at the grocery store when the older sibling made a frantic 911 call.
