Explosion at residential San Francisco building sparked 3-alarm fire that killed 1 and hurt 2

A massive, three-alarm fire claimed the life of one person and hurt two others Thursday following a residential explosion in San Francisco.

The San Francisco Fire Department said that over 100 firefighters to the scene where three houses caught flames. The deceased victim was initially declared unaccounted for.

“San Francisco Fire is saddened to announce that the previously listed unaccounted-for adult has been located within the fire building by Search K-9 Teams. This fire is now a fatal fire,” the department announced in a tweet.

    The Department urged residents to avoid the area as they investigated the cause of the explosion.

    “We are aware of the numerous calls and reports of an explosion and houses shaking in the area,” Capt. Johnathan Baxter said adding that there was no threat to the community.
