A deceased woman was found lying on the ground next to her car where her toddler slept, unharmed, authorities said.
Officers with the Tampa Police Department responded to reports of a woman lying outside of a vehicle in the 10700 block of Pictorial Park Drive by Easton Park subdivision shortly after 10 p.m. Monday.
The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers also found her baby sleeping in a car seat inside the Ford EcoSport SUV.
Investigators said that the tot was not harmed but that his mom sustained upper-body trauma. An official cause of death is pending.
Authorities launched a homicide investigation. They said that the woman and baby were not residents of the area where the incident unfolded.
