A South Carolina man was charged this week over a September incident that saw him burying an acquaintance's body in the backyard of his home without notifying anyone of the death.
Police said that Devante Antonio Dinkins took it upon himself to bury the body of a 24-year-old male acquaintance who died at his Kimpton Drive home on Sept. 16, 2022.
The victim died suddenly after suffering a medical emergency, investigators said. Dinkins, 26, removed the dead body from the residence into the backyard where he buried it in a shallow grave.
A witness called the police after suspecting something was wrong with the backyard's soil.
Dinkins was arrested and charged with “unauthorized removal of a dead body” before he posted a $10,000 bond Wednesday.
