A 6-year-old boy was arrested in Virginia after he fired a gun at his teacher during an altercation at a Newport News elementary school.
The teacher is now fighting for her life after sustaining critical wounds at around 2 p.m. Friday. Students said that she was shot in the stomach and fell to her knees.
Police labeled the shooting “accidental” adding that it unfolded in a classroom at the Richneck Elementary School. But a 6-year-old student said the gunman shot the 25-year-old teacher “on purpose” following an argument.
“Why is there a 7-year-old with a bloody gun?” one frustrated mother said. “You've got a beautiful country, you've got beautiful people, but what's the problem? Guns.”
“How does a 7-year-old have a gun? That's what I'm pissed off with. I'm only here because my husband was in the military or otherwise, I would not have chosen this country.”
