Arkansas authorities made Friday a horrific discovery of a boy’s decomposing body buried beneath the hallway of his mother’s Moro home.
The 6-year-old boy’s remains were found at around 11 p.m. after his grandmother was finally granted a court order to visit her grandchildren on weekends.
For “over a year”, the woman battled to get the custody of the deceased boy and his 6-year-old sister, authorities said.
“She showed up to get her grandchildren, Friday and was told the youngest was at a friend’s house and the oldest couldn’t walk,” a relative said.
The woman was horrified to see her granddaughter severely malnourished, with burns on her scalp and all over her body, fractured ribs, and with her hair chopped off.
“These injuries are presumed to be from her mother and her mother’s boyfriend,” a relative said.
The grandmother took the girl to a hospital and called the police. Hours later, detectives called her back to let her know that her grandson was found buried in the home.
Ashley Roland, the 28-year-old mother of the two children, and her 33-year-old boyfriend Nathan Bridges were charged with capital murder, abuse of a corpse, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
