Atlanta authorities have launched a homicide investigation into the deaths of two family members found inside a burning home Saturday.
After extinguishing the massive fire that erupted at around 8:30 a.m. at a Bankhead-Bolton neighborhood home, firefighters discovered two deceased people inside the structure.
Atlanta Police Department identified the victims as Lola Bell Thomas and her nephew Bobby Grubbs. Both were residents of the home.
Fulton County Medical Examiner ruled Thomas’ death a homicide after it was determined that she was stabbed multiple times and had her throat slashed.
Her nephew’s cause of death remains unspecified.
Investigators found a burned-out loaded gun at the scene after the fire was put down.
