A California teen is hailed a hero after he managed to free his trapped father from underneath a truck while they worked on it Monday night.
Matthew Wilkinson recalled getting trapped underneath his truck while trying to fix the brakes with the help of his 15-year-old son Dalin; at some point, he noticed that the rotor was stuck.
“I couldn’t get a good angle, so I slid my body underneath the truck and was hitting it. The second it popped off, the truck fell.”
“I know it rolled forward because I saw it roll forward and it fell right on top of me. All I could think about was the breath coming out of me. I was just squished. I couldn’t talk. I couldn’t yell.’
The boy remembered the moment the truck dropped on his father and he heard him “make a noise like his soul was leaving his body.
“I just ran over and tried as hard as I could to get it up enough to get him out,” he said.
The man rolled himself out and was taken to a hospital with a punctured lung and broken ribs and shoulder. The entire ordeal was caught on surveillance footage.
“My son is my hero. He saved my life,” Wilkinson concluded.
