Authorities in Marshfield, Massachusetts are looking for an acquaintance of a married couple found stabbed and bludgeoned to death in their home earlier this week.
Officers discovered the bodies of Carl and Vicki Mattson, both 70, inside their home at around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday while conducting a welfare check.
The couple appeared to have been stabbed and bludgeoned to death, Marshfield Police said. Christopher Keely, 27, was named a person of interest in the case.
“Keely was acquainted with the Mattsons,” District Attorney Timothy Cruz said. “This does not appear to be a random act of violence. This appears to be a targeted attack.”
Keely, nicknamed “Crispy”, is believed to driving a 2019 black Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and may have dyed his hair red. His family’s lawyer issued a statement regarding their involvement in the investigation.
“[State Police] have been given the full cooperation of Mr. Keeley’s family. The events that are alleged to have occurred are shocking and truly devastating to all involved. Our hearts go out to the entire Mattson family for their loss.”
