An Amazon delivery worker was fatally mauled by two dogs late Monday while doing his job, Ray County Police said.
The driver parked his Amazon vehicle in front of a residence near Excelsior Springs at around 7 p.m. and vanished leading concerned neighbors to call the police hours later.
Deputies discovered the victim’s body after a brief search. Two “aggressive dogs” were located near the body.
The animals ran into the home after deputies fired shots at them. Preliminary investigation revealed that the middle-aged man likely died from fatal dog bites.
“Due to the fact of some of the nature of the injuries that the male driver suffered, we can’t confirm nor deny if they were the cause of the death of the driver,” Sheriff Scott Childers said.
The dogs were shot dead inside the vacant residence; their owners were reportedly out of town at the time of the attack.
