Authorities in Texas said that a missing teen was found driving a car in Nebraska with a woman’s body in the trunk Friday.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that 17-year-old Tyler Roenz was hospitalized in critical condition after he crashed the Mazda 3 linked to the case while trying to elude police.
“The vehicle has been located in Nebraska,” the sheriff tweeted. “With assistance from Nebraska State Police, a pursuit took place and the driver crashed out. The male driver may have sustained injuries related to the crash, but the extent is unknown.”
Roenz was reported missing with his mother, Michelle Roenz, on Thursday. The sheriff had described their disappearance as “suspicious.”
Investigators are working to identify the deceased body found in Roenz’s car.
