Former tight end for Dallas Cowboys killed in rock climbing accident

Former tight end for the Dallas Cowboys Gavin Escobar was killed in a freak rock climbing accident in California Wednesday. He was 31.

Escobar was with 33-year-old Chelsea Walsh at the time of the deadly accident. Both died at the scene in San Bernardino National Forest near Tahquitz Rock.

    “It is with deep sadness that we announce the off-duty death of Long Beach Firefighter Gavin Escobar. Hired on February 5, 2022, Firefighter Escobar was assigned to Fire Station 3 on B-shift,” the department said in a statement.

    “Firefighter Escobar leaves behind his wife and two young children.”
