An inmate at a Tulare County jail was found unresponsive in his cell, sheriff officials said Wednesday.
Curtis Peck took his own life on Tuesday night at the Adult Pretrial Detention Facility. His death is the fourth of an inmate in the county this year.
Deputies and emergency responders “immediately administered first-aid” and asked for a paramedic’s assistance but all efforts to revive the inmate went “unsuccessful.”
Investigators believe Peck’s dead was a suicide. The 45-year-old man was booked on Saturday over parole violation, criminal threats, assault, and vandalism allegations.
Sheriff’s Detectives’ Unit is conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
