Homemade plane crash kills 2 in Minnesota, including grieving son dispersing father’s ashes

One of two victims of a fatal plane crash in Minnesota was reportedly scattering his father’s ashes before the tragedy.

Lee Cemensky, 58, was killed in the August 28 plane crash along with pilot Douglas Johnson, 61, as they attempted to land at around 7 p.m.

According to Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, Cemensky went up on the “homemade” aircraft to pay tribute to his late father who passed away on Aug. 7.

    Cemensky had sold his Las Vegas auto-repair business back in February and moved to Fifty Lakes, Minnesota. He was described as a “good guy” to all his customers.

    The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
