Oklahoma County news, Oklahoma news.

An Oklahoma County inmate took his own life Friday afternoon, days after his arrest on suspected drug trafficking charges, authorities said.

Danny Paulin, 52, was discovered attempting suicide in his cell at around 1:51 p.m. by a detention officer conducting cell checks.

“The detention officer called for medical and other officers to respond, and they immediately began life-saving efforts,” authorities said.

Despite all the attempts to revive him, Paulin was ultimately pronounced dead at 2:27 p.m. at the jail.

Paulin, the 13th inmate to die in US prisons this year, had struggled with mental issues after he lost his child in a car crash back in 2017.

“After that, I had a mental breakdown and lost my mind and began drinking,” he reportedly revealed in a letter to a court clerk.
