Former President Donald Trump said in a statement Monday that FBI agents “raided and occupied” his Mar-a-Lago home and broke into his safe as they searched for classified documents that he is alleged of bringing with him from the White House.
“Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before,” Trump said on Truth Social.
“After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.”
The former President called the raid a “weaponization of the justice system” blaming “radical left Democrats” for the “prosecutorial misconduct” that occurred while he was not home.
“What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee?” Trump wondered.
“Here in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.”
