Fiery, multiple-car crash kills 6 people, injures 9 including baby in a ‘war-zone’ scene

A horrific crash involving several cars killed six people and injured nine Thursday afternoon when a speeding vehicle went through a red light at an intersection and plowed into traffic, setting three on fire.

Video of the fiery crash shows a Mercedes-Benz sedan flying the red light at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson Avenues around 1:40 p.m. to slam right into at least six cars.

  • According to the California Highway Patrol, the deceased included an infant and a pregnant woman. The 40-year-old driver of the Mercedes survived the wreck and was charged with vehicular manslaughter and gross negligence.

    A CHP official described the crash scene saying that it “almost looks like a war zone” with smoke and debris all around burned-out, wrecked vehicles.
