Four suspects have been arrested in connection to the killing of a 25-year-old woman near a Realization Point hiking trail late last month.
Alexis Baca’s body was discovered by the trailhead at around 10 a.m. on July 24, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said.
A subsequent investigation led to four suspects who had been directly involved in her murder. They were apprehended in New Mexico.
Cody Lee Hobirk, 43, was charged with second-degree murder, and Jaime Alonso Moore, 31, with first-degree murder and second-degree murder. Both face also aggravated robbery charges.
Ashley Lynn Provine, 18, and Elizabeth Nicole Griffin, 23, were hit with accessory to murder and tampering with evidence charges.
“That’s the worst thing that a mother could receive,” Lexi’s mom said of the moment she learned about her daughter’s death.
“Nobody wants to ever get that call or get that visit that your child is dead.”
Baca leaves behind a 1-year-old daughter who will now be raised by family members including the woman’s cousin and best friend Leah Pena.
“Her mother loved her very much, and she was just a very special person. I’ll make sure to keep those memories alive,” Pena said.
