A beloved Memphis pastor was shot to death during a carjacking Monday afternoon and police have charged a 15-year-old boy with her murder.
Three teens, aged 17, 16, and 15, targeted Rev. Autura Eason-Williams outside her home and gunned her down before taking off in her Malibu.
Police located the stolen vehicle early Tuesday and arrested the three teens; the younger was charged with first-degree murder while the older was released without charges.
The 52-year-old victim was the pastor of Capleville United Methodist Church and was very respected among the community.
“She carried her amazing gifts with humble self-confidence and surpassing excellence in the offices to which she was called,” said Rev. M. Douglas Meeks.
“That she was struck down by God-forsaken violence must cause us to struggle against the hatred that threatens all human beings in our society.”
