Hopewell news, Virginia news.

Authorities in Virginia were still looking for four prison escapees on Sunday after the men managed to break free from a minimum-security camp in Hopewell early Saturday morning.

The Bureau of Prisons did not elaborate on how the inmates managed to escape. They were identified as Corey Branch, 41; Tavares Lajuane Graham, 44; Lamonte Rashawn Willis, 30; and Kareem Allen Shaw, 46.

All four suspects were convicted of drug and/or gun charges and serving their sentences at the Hopewell lockup, which is a satellite facility from the Federal Correctional Complex in Petersburg.

Staff at the facility noticed that the four prisoners were missing at around 1:45 a.m., the Federal Bureau of Prisons said.

An internal investigation has been launched and several agencies including the US Marshals Service and the FBI are helping with the search.
