Van carrying disabled adults crashes into 18-wheeler in Arkansas killing 5

A horrific crash involving a school bus and an 18-wheel tractor-trailer had left five people dead and five others injured Monday.

The school van carrying adults with disabilities smashed into the 18-wheeler on Highway 35 as it tried to cross over into the southbound lanes of Highway 65.

  • Victims of the Monday crash in Chicot County were later identified as Braushawn Ranson, 19; Tommy Figures, 50; Terry King, 56; Regina Jackson, 65; and Geraldine Prewitt, 73, who was known in the community as “Lil Bit.”

    “We don’t have the words right now to express our pain,” C.B. King Director of Programs Lora Medina said in a statement.

    “The Adult Center in Arkansas City will be closed for now as we process what has happened.”
