Uvalde School Shooting: 19 students, 2 teachers killed by teen suspect who bought 2 rifles on 18th birthday

The small town of Uvalde in Texas is reeling over the bloody massacre at Robb Elementary School that left 22 people dead including 19 children Tuesday.

Preliminary information released by local police and Gov. Greg Abbott identified the perpetrator as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos.

Ramos had shot his grandmother, critically wounding her, moments before heading to the school, crashing his vehicle and leaving it with two assault rifles he recently purchased on his birthday.

  • Shortly after 11:30 a.m., he went on a rampage opening fire at children, second through fourth-graders, killing 19 students and two teachers identified as Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia.

    Ramos was then shot dead by officers; in addition to the fatalities, at least 15 students, two adults, and two cops sustained injuries.

    “Texans across the state are grieving for the victims of this senseless crime and for the community of Uvalde,” Gov. Greg Abbott said.

    “Cecilia and I mourn this horrific loss and we urge all Texans to come together to show our unwavering support to all who are suffering. We thank the courageous first responders who worked to finally secure Robb Elementary School.”
