Texas authorities are investigating the deaths of four family members inside a Spring apartment Thursday as a triple murder-suicide.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that the perpetrator was the patriarch of a Pakistani family who shot dead his wife and their 4-year-old daughter as they got ready to go for their day.
The suspect also shot and killed his mother-in-law before turning the gun on himself. The tragic incident came amid an ongoing divorce involving domestic abuse.
“At that moment, I just started crying,” a neighbor said recalling the time she learned about the atrocious crime and saw heavy police presence outside the Commons at Vintage Park Apartment where she lives.
“I just started crying. It’s crazy how you see someone one moment and then you would never fathom something like this would happen.”
“The mother-in-law was always speaking to people passing by, waving,” another neighbor said. “When I did see the wife, she would speak.”
“The little girl played with the lady in building number four’s little girl. They were out there playing. The quality of life, seeming to me, that they wanted to live.”
