Indiana boy, 5, pulled dead from creek; younger sister managed to survive

Two siblings were playing in a Brownsburg, Indiana creek when things went tragic Saturday afternoon, police said.

The 5-year-old boy was already dead when rescuers arrived at the site at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

His body was pulled from the moving water and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office said.

  • A 3-year-old girl was also found near the creek but appeared to have managed to get out of the creek before deputies arrived.

    She was identified as the dead boy’s sister; authorities did not release further information about the two siblings.

    “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family involved in this tragic incident and our community as a whole,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

    The Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Department of Child Services have launched an investigation into the deadly incident.
