A Senior US Defense Official revealed Saturday that Russian troops were met by a strong resistance around Kyiv and have started feeling frustration over their failure to control any major Ukrainian city after days of fighting.
“We have indications that the Russians are increasingly frustrated by their lack of momentum over the last 24 hours, particularly in the northern parts of Ukraine,” the official said.
“We continue to see indications of viable Ukrainian resistance.”
The official added that more than 250 Russian missiles have been launched since the beginning of the invasion, most of it short-range ballistic type.
“We continue to see civilian infrastructure and residential areas impacted and damaged by these missiles strikes,” he added.
“We still believe that Russia has yet to achieve air superiority. Ukrainian air defenses, including aircraft, do continue to be operable and continue to engage and deny access to Russian aircraft in places over the country.”
