Student, 12, caught with slingshot, rocks, and 4 knives in his backpack at South Florida middle school
A South Florida middle school student was found carrying a slingshot, rocks, and four knives in his backpack Thursday.
The 12-year-old boy brought the items to Walter C. Young Middle School in Pembroke Pines. He was caught after a school’s resource officer heard students talking about the slingshot.
“Parents, please take this moment to speak with your children about the severe consequences of bringing weapons of any kind onto school property,” Pembroke Pines Police said in a statement.
“These are serious charges and may result in an arrest, regardless of the age of the suspect.”
It comes on the same day that a 15-year-old student was arrested at a Longwood high school after writing threatening messages and Friday’s date on bathroom walls.
