College student gunned down by police after attacking officer with ‘edged weapon’

A Florida college sophomore was shot dead by Melbourne Police after he charged at an officer with an “edged weapon” and inflicted injuries, reports said.

The incident occurred Friday at around 11 p.m. when police responded to the campus of the State Institute of Technology over a student threatening others with a knife.

    Life-saving measures were attempted immediately before Sow “succumbed to his injuries.”

    Police said that Sow was studying aeronautical science at the college. He was a Riverdale, Georgia resident. Following his death, the school made counseling and support available for the campus community, according to a statement.
