A Gilroy, California councilmember confirmed Saturday that a deadly shooting took place at a party held at her residence in the early morning hours of the day.
Councilmember Rebeca Armendariz told local news outlets that she and her immediate family were not harmed during the fight that turned deadly shortly after midnight at their home.
“I am thankful that my family and I … were not hurt in this tragedy, and I pray for those whose loved ones have been touched by what has occurred,” Armendariz told The Mercury News.
“We hope the Gilroy community will come together with love and support for those touched by yesterday’s events at the appropriate time.”
One person was fatally shot in the incident while three others sustained injuries, two of them were listed in critical condition.
