‘Glaring example of juvenile crime’: Boy, 14, shot to back of head, left at hospital

A Connecticut boy was shot to the back of the head and then dropped off at a local hospital early Monday, according to Waterbury Police.

The 14-year-old suffered a life-threatening injury when he was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital. He was later transferred to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford for better care.

  • Waterbury Mayor Neil O’Leary said that the victim is a Hamden resident and that no arrests have been made in connection with the boy’s shooting.

    The mayor added that he believes the crime was the doing of a small group of juvenile offenders that should be stopped.

    “They need to be in a very structured environment because they are too young to realize their behavior is not only a danger to themselves, it’s a danger to the general public. This is a glaring example of this.”
