Authorities in Northport, Alabama have identified the 19-year-old gunman who opened fire at a Wendy’s drive-thru as Kenderius Sherman and added that he was targeting a long-time foe’s vehicle.
A shootout broke out between the two cars at 1920 McFarland Boulevard at approximately 5 p.m. before the target’s car fled to an area apartment complex and sought help.
When officers responded, they pronounced 16-year-old Trinity Shannon dead in the car and rushed the 20-year-old male driver to the hospital with minor gunshot wounds.
"This is the second innocent teenager to be murdered in our area in the last few days," Tuscaloosa Police Capt. Jack Kennedy said.
"The Violent Crimes Unit investigators will always work for justice for our victims and their families."
Sherman is now in police custody facing capital murder and attempted murder charges.
