2 women killed in shooting at Maryland senior living facility

The gunman accused of fatally shooting two women at a Maryland senior living facility early Friday morning was taken into custody.

Both victims were employees of the National Church Residences in Prince George’s County, police said.

One of the women was gunned down in a corridor while the other was killed in an office. The motive for the shooting was not made public.

    “I am nervous now because my mother-in-law is still in the building on lockdown.”

    Following the incident, the facility issued a statement hailing the efforts of staff members who worked selflessly to protect the elderly residents.

    “We are extremely heartbroken. We are proud of the heroic and swift actions of our staff to ensure that our residents were protected and kept safe. Our hearts go out to the families of our two team members who lost their lives.”
