‘Empowered’ gunman fatally shoots father protecting toddler at Miami restaurant; dances over body

A random shooting has claimed the life of a young father who died protecting his toddler from an intoxicated gunman Tuesday night.

Dustin Wakefield, 21, was shot from close range while dining with his uncle Mike and 1-year-old son in an outdoor space of La Cerveceria de Barrio on Miami Beach’s Ocean Drive.

“This guy came in with a gun waving it, saying it’s time to die. He pointed the gun at his son and Dustin said, ‘He’s only a boy,’” Mike Wakefield said.

    A witness at the restaurant that the suspect Tamarius David started “dancing on top of the guy” after killing him. Another customer was injured in the events.

    Upon his arrest, David yelled “I did it. I did it,” before later admitting to having been high on mushrooms which made him feel empowered.”
