Utah authorities have charged a 28-year-old inmate with new offenses after he tried to hire a hitman to kill his ex-girlfriend and her new partner while he was in jail.

Detectives learned about Lorenzo Gutierrez’s plans through an undercover agent who pretended to be a potential hitman.
