Virginia child, 5, perishes in hot car after being 'forgotten' outside home for several hours

A Virginia child died inside an extremely hot car Tuesday afternoon after being left there unattended for several hours.

Springfield Police said that temperatures reached 93 degrees at the time of the “tragic accident” and that the child was left after other family members stepped out.

    First responders tried to revive the child and performed CPR at the scene to no avail. Fairfax Police Lt. John Lieb said that the community’s heart breaks for the child’s family.

    The tragic incident is the 11th of its kind this year, according to advocacy group Kids and Cars.
