A beloved Texas school principal and her husband had been declared dead in a murder-suicide witnessed by their two small children that were found safe.
Erica Allen, 35, was found dead Wednesday in a neighboring yard after her husband shot her and fled to hide at their League City home.
Authorities deployed a tactical team in an effort to enter Nicholas Allen’s home, finding him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Residents said that the couple, who had been working in separate school districts, recently filed for divorce.
Parents of students at Heights Elementary where Erica used to work suggested having them wear red in the domestic violence victim’s honor.
“Your absence is felt. Your laugher & smile are missed. I wish everyone could have known you in ways that we did,” a colleague posted on social media.
“I am so honored to have worked beside you. Remind people how special they are, hug every chance you get, & say ‘I love you’ more.”
