A Connecticut infant had passed away after being mauled to death by his family dog Monday evening.
Police were called to the Norwich home at around 8:30 p.m. after the baby boy was attacked by the family pit bull mix. The 1-month-old died at the scene despite several attempts to save his life.
“Unfortunately, because of the nature of the incident, we haven’t been able to talk to the mother. She is distraught,” Norwich Lt. Anthony Gomes said.
“Our heart goes out to the family. This is just a tragic incident for all of those involved.”
Authorities said that the deceased boy’s father, Timothy Settles, is being sought as a person of interest in a New London house fire shortly after his son’s death.
They urged anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to call Norwich detectives at 860-886-5561.
