A southern Indiana boy spending the night at his cousin’s home fatally shot her and her boyfriend before taking his own life, police said.
Greene County Sheriff’s officers rushed to the residence near Owensburg, Indiana on April 16 after the mother of Jessica Bixler discovered her dead inside the home.
Officers pronounced Bixler, 21, and her boyfriend Mason George, 22, dead at the scene at around 5:30 p.m.
Bixler’s 14-year-old Cole was also found dead in the same bedroom where she had been killed. Authorities ruled that all three died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
After interviewing family and friends of the decedents, detectives learned that Cole, who had been spending the night at the couple’s home, was the perpetrator.
The teen “had mentioned to others that he had been having thoughts of harming himself” prior to the massacre.
The handgun used belonged to George who was asleep on the couch when Cole gunned him down, before doing the same to Jessica.
