Eufaula news, Alabama news.

Authorities are suspecting a triple homicide after discovering the bodies of three people inside a partially submerged car in Lake Eufaula Monday.

Autopsies are being conducted by the Barbour County Coroner’s Office but it appears the woman and two children found in the blue Toyota were dead before even entering waters.

“Our officers arrived and did locate a vehicle that was partially underwater,” Eufaula Police Chief Steve Watkins said.

“We started the recovery process and realized that the vehicle was occupied, and we ceased the recovery efforts at that time to start our investigation.”

A fourth person was also found inside the submerged car but survived the ordeal.

Investigators revealed that they consider the surviving male a person of interest.

It is believed the family is from Cuthbert, Georgia, nearly 30 miles away from the lake. Police said that they have been conducting a separate investigation there.
