Black dad-of-10 shot and killed by Elizabeth City officer serving search warrant at home

Yet another Black man was fatally shot in Elizabeth City, North Carolina Today as a cop served him a search warrant.

It occurred at around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday when a police officer shot Andrew Brown Jr. after he entered his car, attempting to leave the residence while police were still there.

The family of the 40-year-old father-of-10 insisted he was unarmed and did not engage the officer in any way. The Sheriff’s Department issued a statement following the fatal shooting.

  • “During the execution of the search warrant, a citizen who was subject to the search warrant was shot and fatally wounded,” they said adding that bodycam footage is being investigated.

    Crowds of angry witnessed surrounded a blue tent where Brown’s lifeless body remained hours after the ordeal.

    “The sheriff needs to address these people,” Keith Rivers, a county official, said.

    “In light of everything that’s going on in America with the shooting of unarmed black men, I came down to make sure that the facts are clearly disseminated.”
